There are many different ways to experience a luxury ski vacation at Powder Mountain. Of course, hitting the slopes on skis or snowboarding is the most popular way to spend your vacation. But you can also relax slope-side in a ski in ski out vacation home. Sip a warm drink and dig into some tasty comfort food at one of three lodges. While it might be a ski resort, during the summer months you can enjoy mountain biking and hiking on the grass-covered slopes.
But while these might be some of the main attractions that draw so many guests to spend their Utah ski getaways at Powder Mountain, there are a few special extras that can enhance your next trip.
Backcountry adventures offer a fun new way to enjoy the slopes during your luxury ski vacation. From snowcat rides to a snowmobile tour, keep reading to learn a few of the extras you can book during your next visit.
Snowcat Rides
If you’re an expert snowboarder or skier looking for a challenge and an incredible experience, the Lightning Ridge and Raintree Single Ride Inbound Snowcat Rides might be just what you’re looking for. This unforgettable adventure will have you riding a snowcat to the top of Lightning Ridge and Raintree. From there, you’ll race down wild, expert terrain with no grooming. Powder Mountain is already known for its wide open, uncrowded slopes. But this Snowcat adventure takes that to the next level.
You’ll need to have either a Season Pass or a day ticket to book this experience. Season pass holders will pay $29 per Snowcat ride, while ticket holders pay $39 per ride. Because you’ll be heading into ungroomed territory, this adventure is subject to closures due to weather, and if you book a tour, you’ll want to book with a buddy.
Snowmobile Tours
When you want a break from shredding the slopes or just want to get a new view—or, if you are someone who doesn’t enjoy skiing or snowboarding at all—snowmobile tours are another great way to experience Powder Mountain.
On this one to two-hour tour, you’ll explore the White Pine/Gertsen area, located some 9,000 feet of elevation. From the top, you’ll enjoy views of the Ogden Valley, Wasatch, The Great Salt Lake, and so much more. During the tour, your guide will teach you about the area’s topography and ecology, as well as the region’s rich history. You’ll even enjoy a tasty snack while you take in the views.
Tours are available twice a day, seven days a week. The first tour begins at 10 a.m. and ends around noon. The second tour begins around 1 p.m. and ends around 3 p.m. Each tour can accommodate up to 12 guests, including six drivers and six riders. Snowmobile drivers need to have a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. Riders can be any age but must be at least 4 feet, six inches tall. Beginners and first-time snowmobile drivers are welcome to join these tours! We recommend that you wear winter gear, including water-resistant outerwear, goggles, hats, neck gaiters, warm gloves, and insulated winter boots.
UTV Guided Scenic Drive
This next backcountry adventure is only available during summer Utah ski getaways. Just as snowmobile tours are perfect for taking in the incredible views and giving your feet a break during a luxury ski vacation, UTV Guided Scenic Tours will give you a rest and take you on a backcountry tour of some remote corners of the resort’s more than 30,000 acres.
Choose between half-day and full-day tours that explore abandoned mines, caves, forests, and more. You’ll take in panoramic views of the mountains looking a little more green than they will during your next luxury ski vacation.
The half-day tour lasts three hours, while the full-day tour lasts for five. Each tour can accommodate up to seven guests. Guests planning to operate the UTV must have a valid driver’s license and be over the age of 18.
